The Indonesian Student Debate Competition Team (Kompetisi Debat Mahasiswa Indonesia/KDMI) of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Jenderal Soedirman University (UNSOED) won the achievement as the Best Team II at the University Level. The event was held online via Zoom Meeting on Thursday, June 3, 2021. The FEB student representatives who advanced in the 2021 KDMI event were: Egi Bachtiar (PS IESP) and Daffa Ammar Pratama (PS IESP), one team only consisted of two people because since 2021 there were a change in the debate system from Asian Parliamentary to British Parliamentary.

Preparation for joining KDMI was carried out for two weeks with trainer Putri Arum Sari, a 2018 student majoring in Accounting FEB UNSOED, under the guidance of Drs. Rahmat Priyono, M.E. (Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni FEB) . The exercises were conducted online, and sparring with the team from the Faculty of Medicine and FISIP Unsoed. This competition was followed by almost all faculties within the General Sudirman University. Assessment criteria: Argumentation, Grammar and Appearance. Arguments have the greatest weight of assessment than others because basically the debate competition favors logical and provable arguments. KDMI is an event for students to show their best skills in critical thinking and communication as well as increasing self-confidence in order to increase the competitiveness of graduates in the global era. This competition demands broad insight, good language skills and the ability to argue. By having good language skills, it can improve students’ ability to communicate and interact with the community. In addition, having proficiency in argumentation can also increase students’ ability to conclude things based on logical and factual analysis.
