On Saturday, September 25, 2021, the Foreign Language Lab FEB UNSOED, collaborating with the Economic and Business Faculty English Club (EFEC), held a webinar with the theme “Gain More Opportunity with English Competency.” This webinar aims to present information and knowledge about the importance of mastering English competency tests for students. This event was opened by Karina Odia Julialevi, S.E., M.Si., Ak., C.A. as MC and moderator and filled with remarks from the Dean of FEB Unsoed, Prof. Wiwiek Rabiatul Adawiyah, M.Sc., Ph.D. In his speech, he hoped that the unemployment rate could be reduced with English language proficiency as a provision to compete in the international arena in the era of globalization.
The webinar, which runs from 09.30 s.d. 12.00 through the media Zoom Meeting, was attended by 95 participants. In this event, the material given is English Proficiency Tests by Kiky Sri Rejeki, M.Sc., as a speaker who has received an LPDP Scholarship and has been a Ph.D. student at the University of Western Australia.
Although the webinar was held online, the participants’ enthusiasm was quite considerable, which was shown during the question and answer session. The participants asked a several questions. At the end of the webinar session, the resource person gave a closing message by providing tips to slowly allocate time to study, note down new vocabulary, get used to chatting in English directly with other people. Don’t forget to mention that hobbies can make language learning more accessible, just as people like K-Pop will find it easier to learn Korean and English. (by Andre Nahra-Accounting)
