On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, there was a public lecture held by the Faculty of Economics and Business, General Soedirman University together with Andi TV with the topic of “Discussing Business Research Methods: Common Mistakes in Thesis Writing, Thesis and Dissertation”. The event starts from 13.30 WIB to 15.30 WIB through Zoom and Andi’s TV Youtube channel, broadcast live through the Creative Multimedia Laboratory studio. This event was hosted by Dwinita Andriastuti as the MC representing Tv Andi, which was then continued by Novita Puspasari, S.E., M.Sc., Ak. as moderator of the event. The event started and opened with a warm greeting by Prof. Dr. Suliyanto. S.E., M.Si. which next is filler material that will be discussed in this public lecture. after the moderator’s guidance for the material presentation session, Prof. Dr. Suliyanto. S.E., M.Si. describes the content of the material that begins with a discussion of thesis or thesis systematics, followed by a discussion of seven sub-topics related to common mistakes in research writing. In the first sub-topic, it discusses common mistakes on the background of the problem which includes how rational the background of the problem is and what forms of error are in the background of the problem. Then, the discussion material continues on the common mistakes that are often encountered in limiting problems, starting from definitions and illustrations related to limiting research problems to what types of common mistakes that often occur in limiting research problems.
Furthermore, the discussion turns to common mistakes that are often found in the purpose and benefits of research, this discussion includes differences in research objectives and research benefits, the relationship between research problems, research questions, general objectives and specific research objectives, and common mistakes that are often found in objectives. and research benefits. The fourth sub-topic discussion contains material about common mistakes in literature review, starting from the definition and importance of research theory and literature review, to the forms of common mistakes found in the literature review. The next sub-topic discusses what is a hypothesis and common mistakes that occur in hypothesis development.
