International-level achievements were again made by Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) students from across faculties and study programs. The team won two awards at once, namely the first “Gold Medal: The Category of Protection of Environment, Energy, Water, and Sanitation” and the second “Special Award of Promising Young Entrepreneur by the National STEM Association” at the prestigious Malaysia Technology Expo 2023 competition.

The event, which took place at the Putra World Trade Center (WTC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, took place on March 16–18, 2023, at the Putra World Trade Center (WTC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the event, the Unsoed team raised an innovation entitled “HEBE Soap: Organic & Antioxidant Body Soap Made from Soybean Dregs to Utilize Tofu Waste in Kalisari Village, Banyumas, Indonesia”.

The Unsoed team, led by Egi Bachtiar from the Faculty of Economics and Business, also won the Silver Medal at KIDE Taiwan (Kaohsiung Invention and Innovation Design Expo) in 2022. Egi and his friends were guided by Unsoed lecturer, Dr. Ir. Hj Rahayu Widiyanti, M.P. The team consisted of six members, namely Maulana Hasbi Asshidiq (Faculty of Animal Husbandry), Muhammad Farhan Daud (Faculty of Animal Husbandry), Heni Fatmayanti (Faculty of Economics and Business), Rachel Sekar Vini Utami (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences), Ria Rohayati (Faculty of Agriculture), and Annisa Tiara Qurrota A’yun (Faculty of Economics and Business).

Egi said that the achievement was a source of pride for Unsoed because the team had the opportunity to introduce the potential of tofu pulp in Kalisari Village, Banyumas, and gain high appreciation in the international arena. “For the obstacles in this competition, maybe there is a need for high courage to participate in competitions at the international level,” he said.
